Lapidary slab saws

A slab saw helps turn suitable rough into slices for further work. The important questions are how the specimen will sit, how it will be held and whether the intended cut stays within the exact machine’s limits.

Size the rock, not the label

A 10-inch saw uses a 10-inch blade; it does not automatically accept a 10-inch rock. Keep exposed blade height distinct from the manual’s more conservative material guidance. Our capacity guide explains the difference.

Plan the first stable cut

An irregular specimen can be difficult to support even when its height looks suitable. Decide how the stock will be held before comparing attractive blade diameters or bundles.

Know when to look beyond these models

Large rough, frequent production work and powered-feed requirements can justify equipment outside the Amazon options shown here. A limited verified selection is more useful than a forced recommendation.
